Fatty throws in the towel!

Apparently there are "dark forces" at work in Tiruvannamalai (that's us folks!) ...

There has been an outburst of spontaneous elation in the People's Republic of T.V.Malai following the news that Lurv in Supremo Tony Tubby Moo (alias Mooji) is no longer coming to Tiru this year. In his rambling address to the insipid music of Love Story on Mogadon, the great pseudo-saint clearly looks ill and short of a few marbles. Like Jim Jones just before he passed the orange juice and cyanide around, Mooji makes obscure claims about threats from sources unknown (has he pissed off some Tamil politico?)

For 6 years now Mooji and his gang of Goan refugees have turned Tiru into a Stoners' Toilet, so we say good riddance!

[LATEST NEWS: Mooji has taken down the original video that we posted. No reason has been given].

  1. It's obviously far less hassle to charge everyone $35 for online sat-scam from his new palatial home in Portugal! No longer "man of the people" in the chai shops of Tiru!

    1. his simpering devotees unwittingly have paid for his palatial digs. Is he even a real guru? It's been my experience that if one asks a guru such as mooji how he deals with past transgressions and where his is now in his life---he will turn it back around to your shortcomings.

  3. So the famous hero is not only a silly poseur but a fuckin’ coward too. Not coming to Tiru because of some very vague rumors and gossip, what a joke. There is no tension here. It's just a bloody lie.

What are these threats and forces? This is like American politics creating fear and anxiety among the people so that they will happily swallow any lie or pseudo-truth.

A genuine Jnani or Master would never be afraid of anything or anybody. Thank you for showing your real face to us Baba, you couldn’t be more clear.

So exit Mooji forever. Bye bye ... Nobody has come and nobody is lost ...

Every sincere person will know what to do now and turn his/her back on the silly coward and spiritual life in general - after being seriously pissed off by this "master". They can go home and do some useful work as my good friend Bobbie Garbage Gal recommends.

Or if you want to stay here for a while I can recommend THE GATE as the place where all losers and lost souls end up. Is Saradamma not famous for casting spells and curses? Could she be involved in this drama to attract more devotees to her GATE?

Gurus are falling like ripe apples one by one, as predicted by Sri Sri Kevji. Soon Tiruvannamalai will be an oasis of peace and bliss again, as it was before the invasion of the barbarian hordes.

    Om Nama Shivaya.

Excuse me while I PUKE. What a load of patronising bollocks!

  5. A reliable source told me that Mooji refused to pay the small bribe that has to be paid to the local police by people like him earning illegal money in India. Of course he might be too poor to pay the small fee but somehow after his new real estate adventure in Portugal I doubt it. Therefore I think we can safely add miser to my list of his "qualities".

  6. The only reason Mooji goes to Tiru is to endorse his status by holding his satsang in the shadow of Arunachala. And this is because he has the monumental conceit to proclaim himself a lineage holder of Ramana and Papaji!

  7. Police corruption/corrupt gurus, like attracts like. It's a marriage made in heaven!

It seems that our old friend Karl Jacob has been dispensing his infinite wisdom on the net again. Strange how he uses this site as his only reliable source of info while simultaneously proclaiming how immoral and terrible it is. But then Karl has never been to Tiru and he only met Radha Ma on Facebook (duh!) But despite these experiential failings he has set himself up as Germany's numero uno internet authority on all things advaitic.

The burning question remains, is Karl Jacob the bastard love child of professional idiot and world renowned moron Premananda? They seem to share similar genetic qualities!

  9. Heartfelt gratitude to Mooji for introducing Tiru to a living breathing jabba the hut...jabba the mutt? Of course idiots who don’t know the first thing about Advaita – no real Advaita guru charges a fee, for instance – and cough up 350 euro and more to a bloated creep for “wisdom” they could get out of the simplest Ramana book costing 35 rups -- deserve all they get. that too for a "silent retreat!".

yes, fatty is a coward, and the evil forces the poor fellow is terrified of are likely the FRO and some powerful locals. no one told jabba he could drop a lot of fat with no spa fees in an old-fashioned indian jail.

Vastly illiterate as he is, i hope someone tells Mooji that fake gurus who use Arunachala to promote themselves (while surrounding himself with asses expert only at arse and foot licking the lumpy Jamaican boy) -- are in for some pretty burning retribution.

And while on the subject of illegal money, why not delve into the other so-called western seekers in Tiru who are happily living off the fat off the land, even while many of them groan about the dirty, crooked locals? At least the locals don’t pretend to be here for love of Arunachala…they were born here.

  11. To Mooji devotees:

Keep an eye out. If you donate sweat equity and money to create Ms Portuguese ashram, see if, 5 to ten years later, your efforts will be remembered and appreciated.

Or if you will be shoved aside and made to pay huge sums to get inside the very buildings you helped construct.

At the core of all bad relationships or cults is one single thing:

    Unreciprocated loyalty.

  12. Mooji is only interested in one subject, himself! If you ever engage him in conversation it's just an endless barrage of "me,me, me" stories. So now that he has created his little kingdom in Portugal and can charge $35 for computer sat-scam to the States, why bother collecting credulous idiots in Tiru? If you take away his veneer of street cred, he is just another bumbling idiot who wants to build a temple to his own vanity.

  14. The other rumour has it that Ramanashram used its influence to prevent Mooji from getting a visa; due to his arrogant and disrespectful behaviour in the Ashram. And that Mooji is now going (or has gone) to London to apply for his visa there. Thus perhaps, the message on his website to "hold on to your tickets"?

If that is the case, then it Ramanshram itself which is the "dark forces"... but somehow, "dark forces" sounds more ominous!

This info, if info it is, is from a daily visitor to Ramanashram

    ReplyDelete
  15. Ramanashram is said to be behind the collapse of Nityananda and the problems Radha Ma faced as they tend to work through people and not spoil their own name.

All said and done they haven't been able to do anything with the Yogi Ramsuratkumar Ashram or the Arunachaleswar temple raking in crores. Major competition there, I would think. I guess the humble Prez of Ramanashram only goes after the phonies.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Ramsuratkumar hit the jackpot when an american amateur guru named Lee Lozowick went to Ram to get his own spontaneous enlightenment confirmed. Ram complied and LL and his Hohm boys funded the old guru in return.

Lozowick is now deceased. But he contributed to the noise pollution that befell Tiruvannamalai.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Agree, the area around Yogi Ramsuratkumar ashram has become very noisy and dangerous especially when traffic is diverted on full moon and deepam days.

I love it that the Yogi Ramsuratkumar ashram is continuing to rake in crores much to the dismay of the Prez of Ramanashram. I love it that the sadhus can get a free meal with dignity.

Competition is good in Tiru to keep the autocratic forces in check, don't you think?

    ReplyDelete
  18. This is not about Yogi Ram or Ramanashramam. This is about seriously dangerous, mad people with very big egos, deluding people who seek a way out of the crazy world inside and outside their head.

All these pseudo teachers should be sent to hell without delay but others will come and take their place. So we stumble on til the end of the Mayan calendar and then hopefully and thankfully this drama will end.

Then we have the German site "Erwachen" (Awaken) where we find the "real Masters" like Edgar and Karlchen. They know "The Truth" about everything.

Well actually the other site members think that Karl is an idiot and only interested in gossiping, fucking his girlfriend and other negative activities. But that doesn't bother our brave knight. He goes on and on defending "The Truth" and quoting this blog. Alas he doesn't know that the goal of this blog is to keep idiots like him away from Tiru and if it is the only one, we have succeeded.

  26. A highly intelligent aquaintance has fallen in love with Mooji. His gateway drug was, apparently Eckhart Tolle.

(Slow shake of head). This fellow is quite sophisticated in many ways, but for some mysterious reason goes for what I call "plastic gurus" who induce the sorts of moods people want and assemble a nice moody spiritualized circus around themselves so that their followers can feel themselves members of a tribe.

Its a big cozy social scene, rather like Burning Man.The members of this Konsciouness Klub dont bother to give a damn about Tiru, or the sensitivities of its residents or learn a bit about modern India. They want a fantasy India that matches the fantasy thats between their ears.

As long as seekers like this are around, operators like Mooji can pick em up.

All we can do is offer information in case family members or worried friends wonder what has happened to a pal who has disappeared into the Moo vortex or that of some ohter operator in Tiru.

Its not Tiru's fault. The tragedy is once Ramana Maharshi died, he was in no position to prevent people from feeding off of his honored name.

And he will, all by himself, he is getting old and sloppy, soon he will not manage to keep his act together and he´ll take anyone down with him on the road to ruin....

  34. Hey Anonymous at 6.19 a.m.

If Mooji were to do his thing "as per consumer demand" that would be ok. But he and his gang are noisy, have raised house and commodity prices to ridiculous heights and throw parties that are not in keeping with Tiruvannamalai culture. He is a disturbance and a huge danger to innocent folks who come for Arunachala. We consider it our sacred duty to warn people. If you have a problem with that, then that is your problem, not ours.

  35. Dear Pontius Pilate,
Do you really think Mooji is Jesus? I would suggest it is your messiah complex that is in deperate need of analysis!

  36. In the long run Mooji will be vindicated and the frenzied, raging riff-raff who fancy their IDEAL Tiru will be sorely disappointed. Your imagined Shangrila of the place is best discarded. Tiru has been open for business for a while now and Mooji cannot be excluded on the basis of some anachronistic perceived norms peculiar to Tiru which he is alleged to have flouted. Times are changing. Tiru is already irrevocably changed and the positive economic spin-offs he brings are benefitting most, except the aggressive, shrill, disgrunted elements who oppose him. Spiritual people engaging in vendetta, how strange. Spiritual people becoming rabid vigilantes, stranger still.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Stating your opinion is not vendetta. It's called freedom of speech. Who would use the anachronistic class-ridden term "riff-raff" except some spoilt snotty rich kid? Your right-wing free-market mantra has led the world to the brink of disaster. And you think this is helpful?

    ReplyDelete
  38. Anonymous at 12.24 a.m.

You got it wrong a second time. Tiru isn't a place for business. It is a place for renunciation and a place to unite with Arunachala in a simple, quiet way like Ramana Maharshi did.

BTW, if Mooji and other 'gurus' were that great, why do they need Tiru? They could teach in their own backyard. Is it to pass off some of Arunachala's energy as their own? Tsk..tsk that is called stealing.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Was it Pontius Pilate ? I thought it was Casius Clay. Anyhow the towel thrown by Mooji made its way down the throat of those "pure at heart" opponents who seem to regurgitate all their worn out spiritual dogmas about how things should be. The small carnival he brings to Tiru is far less disruptive then the full moon monthly circus, a combination of mayhem, lunacy and superstition.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Mooji is part of the Western capitalist spiritual supermarket. He might be beneficial to some local house owners and shopkeepers but he has also perverted the local economy and helped to foster an unsustainable climate of greed.

As we can see, the comment from Casius Clay shows complete contempt for South India and its cultural tradition. The damage and the pollution Mooji and his parasitic devotees create here, is incomparable.

There can only be one conclusion. Mooji and other satsang clowns: do not piss on the Holy Hill in your arrogance. Go to Goa or Hollywood where you will perfectly fit in the commercial environment!

    ReplyDelete
  41. The real problem with Mooji is his insistence on self inquiry as the one true way. He has borrowed this - apparently from Ramana and Papaji - because he has nothing to offer himself and needs to establish a lineage to furnish his claims of Messiahship. Little does he know Ramana only advised on self inquiry to those who asked about it. Ramana simply upheld the ancient Indian context when a method was requested of him. Silence not self inquiry was the hallmark of Ramana's teaching. Ramana never needed a method ... Teaching self inquiry does not endorse spiritual authenticity. Mooji's emphasis on self inquiry is a cheap sales trick from a cheap con artist who is well known to have never been acknowledged by Papaji.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Dear Anonymous at 6.49 a.m.

"The full moon monthly circus" has been ordained and sanctified by Arunachala. It is in the Arunachala Puranas and other sacred Hindu texts. If Mooji and you have so much disdain for it, then why come to Tiru? Take your road show elsewhere and let us enjoy our "full moon monthly circus, a combination of mayhem, lunacy and superstition" in peace.

  43. There are no authentic gurus out there. These narcissists know a lot of tantric tricks, and some are more adept wizards and witches but the reality is all of these "gurus" learn their "trade" in schools in south india. Then they use the "techniques" they have learned to ensnare and entrap "devotees" for money, sex, power. All their favorite things. This guy Mooju you are talking about is definitely a fake, like all of them but not as "gifted" in extracting money for his trade as others.

If you really want to understand the guru circuit purchase old copies of Sun At Midnight by Andrew Harvey. You could probably get it for a few bucks, as it is many years old. It is the best description I have read in terms of explaining the driving force behind these "gurus' ability to gain a following. This is also an entertaining book, quite the page turner.

There has been no credible criticism of Tony and his group.

Tiru has been the haunt of eccentrics, madmen and supposed saints since before Ramana. Moo's group are no better or worse.

Unless you can print something credible then I am inclined to suspect that the critics are plain old jealous at Tony's success.

  49. I cannot see anymore the video. But I see here lots of negative comments about Mooji. I am not a particular follower of Advaita and things like that, I am a Buddhist practitioner, but I like to watch from time to time Mooji`s videos. One very famous buddhist master "Patrul Rinpoche" said once: what benefits your mind, that is the teaching, even if it is not called buddhist teachings, when something is a buddhist teaching and is not benefiting your mind, it is not a teaching for you. I say this because some of Moojis talks have really benefited my mind. He is getting accused just to reply in self inquiry. Well my view is as long it is benefiting others, what is the problem. He is talking too much about himself? well that is his problem. The teachings are always more important than the teacher. Therefore there are students who got enlightened although their teachers were not enlightened, because they applied the teachings and did not criticize their teachers. As long he benefits more and has love and affection for his followers, who cares about his personal things? Those things are not so important. For me he was until now very beneficial, and I also know a very high Rinpoche who likes to listen to his talks and even wants to go to some of his satsangs. Mooji is somewhat like a Dzogchen/Mahamudra teacher. In his talks I can recognize some elements of that and he can beautifully put them in words. It is really helpful.

    ReplyDelete
  50. It looks like Mooji has turned this video over to private viewing as a response to being featured on the blog. I suspect some of our criticisms have really hit home. You say that some of Mooji's talks have "benefitted your mind". This is not the business of Advaita or enlightenment - but perhaps you're not concerned about that. Teachers like Mooji (and the vast majority of Buddhist teachers too) pursue "I"-based practices that reinforce separation. This leads you into the trap of 'doing to be': an addictive and endless cycle of spiritual ego. Meanwhile Dzogchen/Mahamudra specialises in "ultimate states". This is far removed from what the Buddha taught. He advocated the emptiness of all things not their absolute existence! I would leave behind both Tibetan Buddhism and Advaita-lite clowns like Mooji. Go back to the original progenitor of your tradition, then you won't get lost in the convoluted lineages of second-rate charlatans!

    ReplyDelete
  51. I don't know Mooji personally and I don't know you guys, and I know very little about Buddhism or other views of reality. I do know the feeling of silence - and I think you guys need a dose of it. When I watch Mooji talk I have few opinions, but here's one: I don't feel the presence of a scripted delivery; I see him stop frequently and wait for silence to tell him what to say. I recognize this because I do the same. When he finally speaks I always laugh because I hear the same concept come from my own silence, just with different words. I don't know how to spot a genuine fake but it seems likely to me that there's a genuine person at the heart of Mooji.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Dear SRNotice
There was once a self proclaimed advaita expert called Karl Jacobs. He had never been to Tiru and his non-dual experience was limited to attending Premananda's satsang (a much revered Welsh/Australian conman known as Spermananda!) Karl was also an expert on Radha Ma even though he had never met her, but he was her Facebook friend!

    ReplyDelete
  53. The fact that Mooji waits for Silence to tell him what to say proves that his delivery is scripted. Someone is there waiting - so whatever he waits for will be pre-conceptualised and a product of his own self. The small self is never authentic or spontaneous. It is a product of the past. Dead. This is all the land of contrived states: the self that waits is a state, Silence is a state and that which is waited for is a state. There is nothing genuine about this at all. You are very easily taken in!

With the never-ending quote from Jiddu Krishnamurti about “can the perceiver be perceived” etc. The difference here is simply that J. Krishnamurti, who was a real teacher, never once quoted Tom, Dick, Joe or Harry! Just as it is hard to imagine that Jesus saw the need for the pomp and circumstance of the Vatican. Much in the same way I feel that the Light and the great Silence of Ramana Maharshi never needed interpretation. Mooji’s selfish overindulgence, over-consumption of junk-food along with resisting the change to his own life... I hope M awakens one day to the loving, wonderful fellowship of Overeaters Anonymous. Come on you can do it! Yet how convenient if he says “I am not the body", the Advaita version of denial, thats so cute! lots of enthusiasm here. So I was at Mooji in Rishikesh last year.
I stayed for 3 weeks. But left swiftly due to an unrelated to Mooji event.
I did after 3 weeks go up to the microphone, after carefully contemplating the person that is Mooji and his anecdotes. I stood up there and stood up to him, relfecting on the nature of his overly polite devotees, and followers, seekers of mystic energy and the like, and I emphasized the need for good nutrition and a connection with nature. Neither of which Tony appears to have. I spoke of how if we just listened to our bodies we would find our true selves, as the body is as sacred as everything else. I did scare him with my words.. It appears. And in the end he asked me what was my question, I had no question for the man, which confused him also it seems. But yes he does have a big belly, and I have heard he is diabetic, no surprise. and drinks juice. I am not here to personally insult the man, who spouts out advaitic wisdom like its going out of style and sits on his throne. But I do want people to be cautious of such clowns. There are true teachers out there, and they dont wear bright robes flowers have big fluffy santa claus beards and sit on a pedestal. But the best teachers are the animals, trees, and children. i Hope we all learn to listen to the wisdom that is all around us in every molecule and not another personality cult. <3

    1. Mooji is just another spiritual charlatan that regurgitates psychobabble and inane jargon. His groupies and followers thrive on Mooji's ego like flies flock to shit.

  59. i've always been interested in spirituality. i went through addiction/alcoholism, i went through 4 psychiatric hospitalisations with very extreme psychosis. For the past 13 years i've been T-Total & studied & worked at depth trying to explore my own spirituality. i don't know what to really make of all these areas any more? i think most people are full of shit. i got banned from Mooji's facebook page for asking honest questions - i think there is some interesting comments here on this Blog.

  60. I used to like to watch Mooji's live talks. When they started I felt this quite strong feeling inside my body. Obviously that man has to be enlightened because that happened. Then a year and and a half ago I was watching his live talk and after about hour and a half while listening to him talk I suddenly tought to myself: "That's bullshit. That's spiritual garbage that's coming out of his mouth". Sure the words sounded "spiritual" but something was missing. I have to say I was a bit surprised for what had happened. Then the next week I watched his live talk again and the same thing happened. He was talking from his mind. That was the last time I have listened to him.

  61. You all hate Mooji but Ramana was probably just as bad. He believed there was a city inside Arunachala for God's sake! He insisted that Brahmins sit separate from other castes in the dining area and he thought Hitler might have been a jnani! The man was insane! You only admire him because you believe the mythology about him, like all gullible religious types. As for Nisargadatta, how can you take someone who named themselves 'great king' seriously? Please, be rational. The reason why Advaita is full of frauds and clowns is because it itself is rotten at its very roots, like all religion. FALSE CONSCIOUSNESS. Embrace rationality. Use your brains and stop worshipping fallible human beings.

  62. The point about Advaita being rotten to the core is true, but worshipping rationality is just another false idol.

  63. I see little sanity here. So show me. Where are these teachings or teachers you refer to but never explicitly mention?

If you indeed suggest that rational thought is to be used, then the regressive- and circular arguments of the Münchhausen trilemma destroys all external authorities.

So which is it? Rationality or teachers/teachings? Something else? I am seriously interested in any answers.

    1. This blog is not about looking for something, sanity, teachings or teachers. It's not a "how to" manual. Arguments get you nowhere, they just trap you in the loop of mental masturbation. If you're still interested in answers, you've seriously missed the point.

  64. My experience first time I met Mooji without talking just looking in his eyes I saw just emptiness, a vastness... I´ve seen these eyes in people who take ayahuasca. Somehow when you take this substances something inside happens that your mind disappears and you are left with a pure observation of reality...
What has happened in my life after meeting him... I lived in his ashram for like 3 months ...and after that life has been a rollercoaster... I don't live near him. In my home I find myself sometimes feeling incredibly quiet and some other times I feel i am going crazy. I am clueless. I have tried everything, studied every religion, every philosophy book..I ´ve been in other groups, that u could call cults but truly what in the world is not a cult?? There is the cult of those who worship money, the ones who worship the body...the ones who worship "being good" What is not a cult? Money is moving, changing pockets... Did u drink a bottle of water today...from let´s say Nestle? Aren´t u in that way supporting the cult of natural resources destruction.... What can I say? God does not exist... Life is meaningless, we try to give life a meaning but it has no meaning. I resonate fully with the buddah when he says that Everything comes and goes... But yeah we learn from our mistakes, we learn by taking the wrong way.... we learn by destroying our bodies... destroying nature.... up to the point where suffering is so unbearable that you finally wake up to realise that you can only be what you are now. Namaste

  65. Hey, I tried to surrender to the lake of sewage known as Mooji's Satsang, but the price kept creeping up and in the end it was just wealthy Europeans and self appointed Mooji-slaves who were allowed in. I saw him change from local boy to multi-millionaire, turning over £500,000 per long weekender satsang. Once the body-guards arrived who were protecting the 'no-one' who wasn't there, I thought it would be a good time to GTF outta there. But I am grateful to Mooji; because of him, I'll never follow another guru again...so I guess he gave me my freedom - in an indirect way ha ha ha!...funny how things work out!

  66. Yes, enlightenment appears when one sees the security and the young maidens hanging on Mooji's every bead. Read Paramahansa Yogananda for an understanding of true humility and spiritual teaching...save a few pennies into the bargain.

  67. It's open season over on the mooji sangha reddit page. The page has no moderator so it's probably the one place you can speak your mind without it getting deleted
